Report: HP Expects To Sell Up To 50 Million Mobile PCs

a Wednesday report from Digitimes

Digitimes, which cited Taiwan-based ODMs and component makers, said Inventec will begin production and shipments of webOS tablets in March in accordance with testing and market development schedules.

HP added webOS technology to its portfolio upon acquiring Palm last April and said that webOS will help HP drive its mobile users' online experience. Although HP's tablet strategy includes both webOS and Windows 7, sources cited in Wednesday's report said HP is leaning more toward webOS to drive efforts at gaining market share in tablets.

In September, HP said it plans to release several WebOS devices in 2011, but added during the announcement that the launch would be a continual process, to take place in stages.

In October HP launched its Slate 500 tablet, a 9-inch enterprise-oriented device running Windows 7.
