EPlus: BYOD, Mobility Changing IT

There's a "new world order" today that's being shaped by the bring-your-own-device trend, according to ePlus CTO Mark Melvin.

In an interview with CRN, Melvin said mobility and BYOD are the biggest growth areas for ePlus today. While the solution provider specializes in data center, cloud and security solutions, among others, Melvin said BYOD is everywhere right now.

"People were talking about [BYOD] last summer and last fall," he said, "but now it's in every conversation."

While mobile devices are allowing workers to do anything anywhere, Melvin said, the challenge businesses are facing are how to manage the devices, integrate the right applications and secure not just the data but the device itself. Melvin also discusses the BYOA trend – bring your own application – as well as ePlus' acquisition strategy.
