"Federal IT departments that want to go mobile first are often challenged to provide users the benefits of mobility, while satisfying rigorous security and compliance requirements," said MobileIron CEO Bob Tinker, in a statement. "With CSC and MobileIron, government agencies gain the benefits of CSC’s experience in solving technically complex, mission-critical challenges and MobileIron’s industry-leading cloud platform and proven track record of supporting federal agencies."

CSC, the worldwide IT service provider, offers end-to-end secure mobile services to federal agencies, including mobile strategy, cross-platform app development and mobile platform integration services. The company said it was drawn to MobileIron's productive and comprehensive EMM solution coupled with a layered security model, in addition the Mountain View, Calif.-based company being an EMM leader with cross-platform support for iOS and Android.

"Mobility is something we expect to be the defacto need," said Yogesh Khanna, CTO of CSC’s North American Public Sector. "Access to our personal and enterprise applications anywhere, anytime, is becoming a general requirement. Our vision for mobility is anything that we deliver to our customers, absolutely has to be made available on a mobile device. Mobility will become part of our standard DNA as we go to market, and as a result, given the [mobile security] capabilities that these guys have, I see [MobileIron] really being an integral part of just about every solution that we take to market."

The focus of this partnership, Khanna said, is on the public sector but he expects it to be taken to the commercial market in the longer term.

Mobile IT can use MobileIron to create a private enterprise application storefront, enforce user authentication, containerize enterprise data from personal data and wipe government apps altogether in the event of the device being lost or stolen.

"The partnership is establishing another extremely strong systems integrator in the MobileIron ecosystem," said Ojas Rege, vice president of strategy at MobileIron. "Our focus in federal is to work with the best, to work with the system integrators that have the biggest impact, who are investing the most and that are really committed to mobility. That's what this is an indication of. CSC is one of those players, and now we have the opportunity to work on projects with them."

Rege said having CSC as their newest channel partner has the potential to allow MobileIron to broaden their reach into federal markets.
