HP is taking its "Office of the Future" concept to new heights with the launch of what it is calling the world's thinnest 12-inch Elite x360 wide-screen business convertible notebook.
The 12-inch Elite 1000 Series includes the world's brightest display that provides clarity for working in sunlight conditions and a new application called PhoneWise – a breakthrough application that integrates how users manage calls and respond to text messages through their standard system.
HP Vice President and General Manager of Commercial PCs Alex Cho said the PhoneWise product packs a "wow" punch with all of HP's new systems so people can respond to calls or texts securely with their new systems. "You can now keep your phone in your pocket or bag and you can interact with it via our new premium products," he said.
HP also is unveiling what it is calling the world's most powerful business-class notebook -- a 14-inch wide-screen product powered by an Intel H Series processor. The 14-inch wide-screen, which is aimed at professionals who also use their systems for gaming, acts as a gaming system when connected with HP's Omen gaming accelerator.
In the desktop arena, HP is unveiling a new 1000 Series All In One desktop purpose-built for collaboration with an option that includes a 34-inch curved display. That system was designed for both office and home office scenarios.
Finally, HP is unveiling large displays with HP ShareBoard, which brings whiteboarding to displays and turns office spaces into collaborative work areas. In addition, HP Is taking SproutPro to enable more co-creation.
The new products strike at the heart of the HP "One Life" theme of work life and home life boundaries collapsing into sleek elegant systems that be used for both work and play. That theme is largely in response to a survey HP has taken note of that showed 80 percent of millennials expect some kind of professional/personal life integration.
"This is our big bang," said Cho of the "One Life"/"Office of the Future" product blitz. "We now have a portfolio of 1000 Series notebooks for the different ways you work and live from hyper-mobile to hyper-creative and hyper-powerful. We are pressing the accelerator on premium."
The new systems are empowering "work/life balance" – allowing people to "work wherever they want, be secure wherever they want and also to connect with whoever they want," said Cho. "These systems are beautiful on the outside but have all of the commercial attributes on the inside – making them part of the world's most secure and manageable product family."
All of the systems come with HP SureStart, which protects users against malware, HP self-healing BIOS-enabled security with preboot authentication for Win10, and HP SureView privacy screens.
The HP Reinvent product offensive is powering a shift to premium systems, higher attach and expanding the total addressable market with the shift from the "information economy to the experiential economy," said Cho. He said the products will drive "higher attach dollars" for partners and the opportunity to expand the market with collaborative tools like the ShareBoard.
The new concept of "huddle rooms" aimed at driving work collaboration in small areas with groups of several people in open workspace areas is growing at 34 percent, said Cho. "Our 55-inch 4k display focused on conferencing expands the [total addressable market] for our partners," he said. "We are so excited about this."
The All In One desktop, meanwhile, provides an expanded total addressable market opportunity for focus booths where workers can go in and connect with someone to collaborate.
Cho said the new products make the "Office of the Future" – a one-time HP vision – a reality. "This is a dramatic expansion of how we are participating in the Office of the Future," he said. "We are putting everything that we have learned and pulling it all together. From a technology standpoint, we are bringing it all together."
