Long Lines Boost Apple iPhone 6, 6 Plus

Apple started selling its two new iPhones over the weekend, drawing huge crowds at its glass-plated retail stores. CRN visited the downtown Boston location, where lines snaked around several blocks from the Boylston Street shop.

Loyal fans waited in the chilliest temperatures of the season. Most in line had spent the night, with except of those who pre-ordered the phone. Andrew Rondinone, who pre-ordered what will be his third iPhone, said he only had to wait for ’10 or 15 minutes. Preorder is the way to go.’

Customers expressed excitement over the new bigger displays on both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. ’That’s why I’m getting the 6 Plus,’ said customer Andre Velasquez. Fans also wanted to try out Apple’s new secure payment system, Apple Pay.

’I had my credit card stolen about 2 weeks ago so I’m hoping this will alleviate all that stress. You just go to the store and boom, you pay, done,’ said Rondinone.

Apple sold 10 million iPhones over its opening weekend, and customers in line said they don’t see Apple’s popularity waning. ’I didn’t think that this would be as big as it is this year. There’s no sign that it’s ever going to stop,’ app developer Ben Johnson said of Apple’s big crowds.

But the iWatch? That might be a different story.

’I don’t think that one’s for me. I don’t need my phone on my wrist,’ said Rodinone.
