Polar, previously known for its high-tech heart rate monitors, moved into the sport-centric wearables space with new running-specific and multisport watches, including the A300, M400 and V800.

’All of these newer products are part of what’s called an ecosystem, and they work in conjunction with what’s called our Flow website and Flow application to be run on your mobile device,’ said Polar’s Mike Herlihy.

Polar’s newest device, the A300, monitors heart rate, calories burned and steps and vibrates to alert users when they’ve been sitting for too long. For iOS users, it also connects to the popular MyFitnessPal app.

All of Polar’s new wearables connect with the Polar Flow service, which allows users to track progress and take a deep dive into their long-term goals with a training diary.

While the M400 is designed specifically for runners, the V800 is ’truly designed for the multisport athlete,’ according to Herlihy.

’It also has advanced cycling metrics, swimming capabilities, and again, it also shares the activity-tracking capabilities,’ Herlihy said.

The three devices range from $159.95 to $519.95 in price.
