Panasonic's M&A Plan To Grow Enterprise And Business-Oriented Solutions

Panasonic sees the Internet of Things as a major area of opportunity to grow its enterprise and business-oriented solutions groups, and President Yasu Enokido told the crowd atthe Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegasthat the company will make strategic moves in 2016 to benefit those areas.

"In particular, we are focused on public sector services, entertainment services and retail services," Enokido said.

’By public sector services, we mean solutions [for] customers involved in transportation, infrastructure,’ he added.

Enokido said Panasonic,Seacaucus, N.J.,will be active in mergers and acquisitions, and he cited last summer’s deal to acquire satellite operator ITC Global as a successful, model deal.

With Houston-based ITC Global, Panasonic can now supply high-quality satellite communication services for data in remote locations such as on offshore oil rigs, on ships at sea and at mining sites, he said.

"This contributes to customers' safety, security and well-being," Enokido said.

In the entertainment services space, Enokido cited stadiums, theaters and shopping malls as targets for digital signage and other solutions.
