3Com has rolled out new security and network infrastructure solutions at the Interop trade show in Las Vegas designed to enable service providers and system integrators to deploy managed voice over IP (VoIP) services.
Based on its NBX voice solutions, switches and routers and the TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System, 3Com's new offering automates service implementation and configuration while reducing costs and improving customer service levels. The solution employs Motive, Inc.'s management automation technology to simplify deployment. According to 3Com, it is both highly scalable and quickly implemented, and reduces the risk associated with VoIP service rollouts by providing monitored solutions.
President and CEO Bruce Claflin says that 3Com is ideally positioned to provide service provider customers with the tools they need to implement converged networks. The solution promises to lower the total cost of ownership while leveraging third party expertise, he claims. This will allow providers to open new revenue opportunities in a managed services market that is expected to reach $44.6 billion this year, while still focusing on their core competencies.
"As a leading provider of secure, converged networking products and solutions, we believe we are the only company taking proactive steps to enhance products specifically for a managed service offering, making 3Com's managed service solutions the easiest to deploy, manage and support," Claflin said in a statement. "The capabilities that we're building into our products through our managed services will enable both managed service providers and enterprise end-users to streamline, secure and automate their business processes."
