CoroSoft Does Windows With Director 2.1

The new CoroSoft Director 2.1 helps to automate certain aspects of network management. According to CoroSoft President and CEO Bruce Talley, the Windows edition will be offered alongside versions for Linux and Solaris and will be incorporated immediately into the company's channel efforts.

"With our foray into Windows, we truly reach every part of the data center market," Talley said. "This should give our resellers the opportunity to have a broader reach into enterprise accounts."

Executives at the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company said the new software enables IT managers to control a much larger number of Windows-based applications and servers, without tapping into additional network resources. Based on a patented rules-based policy engine, the software is designed to improve application availability and cluster scalability while reducing redundant servers by up to 70 percent.

"We see this as key to opening up a whole new base of customers," said John Bigelow, vice president and general manager of software business at F5 Networks, a CoroSoft solution provider in Seattle. "For better or for worse, it goes without saying that Windows is huge."

Bigelow said he expects the Windows version of CoroSoft Director will integrate seamlessly with his company's Big-IP software, which manages traffic across LANs and WANs.

The newest version of CoroSoft Director 2.1 is designed to work with CoroSoft Foundation, an intelligent server agent that provides communications between CoroSoft Director and each managed server on the network. CoroSoft Foundation, designed initially for Linux and Solaris operating systems, now supports Windows, as well.
