Power Over Ethernet Vendor Launches Partner Program

Qualified VARs can sign up for the program via the company's Web site, select a PowerDsine distributor and receive a free PowerDsine 6000 Power over LAN midspan Demo Kit, the company said.

PowerDsine, an Israel-based vendor with U.S. headquarters in Farmingdale, N.Y., provides midspans that enable enterprise networks to deliver operating electrical power over ordinary Category 5 Ethernet cabling to IP phones, wireless LAN access points, network cameras and other Ethernet devices.

The company, which previously supplied power over Ethernet solutions to networking vendors, in January first began offering its gear to solution providers through an agreement with distributor Westcon Group.

PowerDsine's products conform to IEEE 802.3af, a draft standard expected to be ratified this summer. PowerDsine's 6000 series midspans sit between a switch and patch panel. The vendor offers the product in one-, six-, 12- and 24-port versions.

PowerDsine is actively recruiting new VARs with expertise in wireless LANs, VoIP or IP security to resell their PowerDsine 6000 midspans, the company said.

After registering for the program, qualified partners can choose from one of two demo kits. VARs that sell VoIP and/or WLAN access points can receive the one-Port Power over LAN Midspan (6001 model) Demo Kit at no charge or the six-Port Power over LAN Midspan (6006 model) Demo Kit at a discount.
