Nvidia's GeForce 8800 GTX is the most powerful card in its product lineup. The 8800 series can reach core speeds of 575MHZ and delivers textures at almost 37 billion times per second.

CRN tested BFG Technologies' 8800 GTX card with Nvidia's ForceWare application and found that it performed admirably. BFG's GeForce 8800 GTX arrives with 768 Mbytes of GDDR3 memory, two dual link DVI-I and HDTV + TV output signal, including an HDTV dongle and two DVI-to-VGA adapters. The GeForce supports multiple displays and can decode and display high-definition video with pinpoint accuracy.

The BFG card supports the HDCP security standard, and Nvidia's high-definition technology automatically cleans artifacts that cause image distortion and corrects poorly encoded videos by recovering the original content. The process sharpens HD-interlaced videos on progressive displays and can enlarge lower-resolution movies to HDTV resolutions, while maintaining smooth images. BFG's GeForce 8800 GTX can deliver speeds of 400MHZ when using Nvidia's RAMDAC architecture. The RAMDAC supports fresh rates of 2,048 x 1,536 at 85Hz running two QXGA- type monitors. The GeForce 8800 GTX card can reach a maximum 32-bit VGA resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 at 85Hz. With dual-link DVI, the resolution is even higher and can reach a stunning 2,560 x 1,600 resolution—but only at 60Hz. Installing the card is fairly simple; the 8800 series must be mounted on an x16 PCIe slot.
