Solidcore Releases Solution Pack for BMC Remedy

Change control software vendor Solidcore this week launched a solution pack that tightly ties its S3 Control software with enterprise software maker BMC's Remedy product.

Solidcore's S3 product eliminates ad-hoc changes across IT systems, while tightening controls on in-process and emergency changes, said Bob Vieraitis, VP of marketing at the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company.

"A gap in control over change causes outages that can be costly. Meanwhile, the savings on compliance with proper change control are roughly 60 to 70 percent, when you go from manual controls to automated," Veiraitis said.

For channel partners, the new solution pack that ties to BMC Remedy is a quicker path to jumpstarting sales on change control, said Solidcore VP of channels Lori Budin.

"We've got a methodology that maps to our partners' methodology," said Budin. "We can help our partners show their clients quickly how they can reduce their compliance costs. The whole program is built to get [channel partners] to revenue faster."

Solidcore and BMC partner VIA Information Tools have already seen results with early versions of the solution pack, said Mike Scott, marketing director of the Troy, Mich.-based VAR.

Scott said his company has successfully sold Solidcore-BMC change management solutions to its core client base of automotive suppliers, and is now approaching other markets as well.

"We're trying to break into markets beyond automotive and we've had a lot of interest already from local health care organizations. We haven't had any sales yet, but that's definitely a market we think we can break into," he said.

Change control is a must for VIA Information Tools clients, Scott said.

"There are so many changes that can happen over a month, a week and even a shift, that can cause serious problems that include downtime and issues related to communications with the ERP system. What we're trying to do with Solidcore's help is to educate our customers that this change control solution is truly a value-added solution, and that it will help save them money at the end of the day," he said.
