Network outages are a pain in the neck for users and an embarrassment for the IT departments, vendors, ISPs and solution providers who are supposed to prevent them. As our dependence on networked systems grows, outages are getting costlier, affect more people and seem to be happening with greater frequency. In just the past few months, several large-scale network outages have made headlines, including four big ones in the last 10 days.
