AT&T's Windows Mobile 6.5 Phones Hit Store Shelves

AT&T also debuted AT&T BusinessTalk, a subscription plan specifically geared toward the small-business crowd.

The HTC Tilt 2 is aimed at corporate users and features a large QWERTY keyboard designed for heavy e-mail use. The 3.6-inch wide-screen WVGA display can be tilted for a larger view. Other features include a 3.2-megapixel camera, dual speakers and dual microphones with advanced noise cancellation. Also included is HTC's Straight Talk feature for conference calling.

The HTC Pure, AT&T's other Windows Mobile 6.5 offering, is an all-touch-screen device that was designed for one-hand use. The HTC Pure features a 3.2-inch WVGA touch screen, 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with video capture, expandable memory, gravity sensor and an ambient light sensor.

The HTC Pure is now available at AT&T's online and physical stores for $149. The HTC Tilt 2 will be released in a few weeks for $299.99. The prices of both phones reflect a $50 mail-in rebate. A two-year agreement on a minimum $69.99 plan is required.

AT&T's new program for small-business users, meanwhile, is dubbed BusinessTalk. Plans start at $60 a month for five users and 700 Anytime Minutes and can be expanded for $9.99 a line to accommodate up to 40 users and 20,000 Anytime Minutes. Separate subscriptions are needed for AT&T Music, AT&T Navigator, Video Share, Push-To-Talk and MobiTV.

AT&T's four other new phones -- two each from Pantech and Samsung -- are the company's first phones to come preloaded with AT&T's new, faster HTML mobile browser, which uses advanced data compression from Opera for quicker HTML Web page downloads.

The Pantech Reveal has an open-faced numeric keypad on the front of the phone that slides up to uncover a full keyboard underneath, and both sets of keys stay active simultaneously so that users get fast access to numbers and letters at the same time. The Reveal comes in red and blue and hits stores Oct. 18. AT&T has not disclosed pricing.

The Pantech Impact features an OLED touch screen that lets users send texts, make calls and control their music libraries without having to open the phone. The screen features haptic controls that register each key-press with a soft, tactile buzz. The Impact can also be flipped sideways to access a full physical keyboard and a second display screen. The phones come in pink and blue, but a release date and pricing have not been announced.

For the Samsung models, the Mythic is touch-screen-only device featuring 3.3-inch touch-screen scrolls. Apps include AT&T Navigator, AT&T Social Net and att.net, among others. In addition, Samsung's TouchWiz user interface lets users design widgets to customize their phones. The model will be released in black only and is slated to be available in November.

Finally, the Samsung Flight has a vertical sliding form factor with a full keyboard underneath. The main display features a user interface that provides one-touch access to functions like shortcuts, favorites and messaging. The Flight, available in red and silver options, will be available in November for an undisclosed price.
