SecureLogix Snags Former Nortel SIP, Services Executive

Nortel's former SIP trunking point man, Rod Wallace, has been appointed to a newly created position at SecureLogix. His title will be vice president of services, according to SecureLogix, and he'll lead the company's efforts around monitoring and managed security services for voice and unified communications networks.

SecureLogix's services business has grown 233 percent by revenue in the first six months of 2010 compared with 2009. Lee Sutterfield, SecureLogix's president, noted that managed services represents a major opportunity for SecureLogix and its channel partners.

"We've seen rapid success in our services business," said Sutterfield in a statement. "We knew there was growing demand for a managed service focused on the unique security threats and ROI opportunities in voice/UC because many of our customers were asking for it."

In his career at Nortel, Wallace led the company's Voice Security and IP Trunking team, and was previously in charge of Nortel Global Network and Physical Security Professional Services. Nortel and SecureLogix have a history; in 2008, the companies teamed up to market and sell SecureLogix ETM and voice security services through the Nortel channel.

"I am well aware of of the tremendous value the SecureLogix solutions portfolio brings to traditional TDM, VoIP and UC enterprise networks," Wallace said. "The market is now entering a period of increased uncertainty as many companies begin looking at a transition to SIP trunking for the delivery of voice and UC services from their providers."
