The sources also reconfirmed several changes announced in part by Cisco already. For example, Cisco previously confirmed that its global engineering organization now has two co-leaders, Padmasree Warrior and Pankaj Patel, down from the seven or eight different engineering chiefs that previously reported to Chambers.
In Cisco's services organization, Nick Earle is now senior vice president, worldwide services sales and channels. Sources described Earle's role as that of Cisco's "field chief" for the global services business, even though Cisco COO Gary Moore will still have P&L responsibility for the services business.
Earle reports directly to Moore, and the services sales leaders in each of Cisco's geographies now report to Earle. In addition, Kerry Lynn Lambert is now Cisco's vice president of services sales, Americas. She replaced George O'Meara, senior vice president US & Canada services, who is retiring from Cisco.
Cisco has made many other restructuring-based changes already, including the shuttering of its Flip video camera line as part of an overhaul of its troubled consumer unit, and an organizational adjustment that included the cutting down of Cisco's much-criticized structure of internal boards and councils.
The sources added that much is still undecided about Cisco's restructuring plans, and that more will be confirmed by Cisco in the coming weeks.
