ShoreTel promoted two executives to take over the worldwide sales chief role recently vacated by former senior vice president of global sales Don Girskis.

Tim Gaines is now vice president of North America sales, leading ShoreTel's sales for U.S. and Canada. Gaines most recently was ShoreTel's vice president of sales for the Western U.S. and Latin America. Before joining ShoreTel in 2007, Gaines spent nearly six years in sales executive roles at Covad and seven years at PictureTel.

Mark Arman is now vice president of international sales and worldwide distribution, leading sales for EMEA, APAC, Latin and Central America and continuing his role leading ShoreTel's value-added distributor sales. Arman joined ShoreTel in 2006 and was vice president of business development, and then vice president of strategy and global channels. Before ShoreTel he was founding CEO and vice president of marketing at WindSpring and held CEO roles at Zentronix and Conferserv.

Both appointments were effective April 1. Gaines and Arman report to ShoreTel CEO Peter Blackmore, according to Kevin Gavin, ShoreTel's chief marketing officer.

The executive changes come as the company has continued to make gains in the channel behind its core UC and contact center platforms, the mobility platform it gained through acquiring Agito Networks in 2010, and its recent $146 million acquisition of M5 Networks, now ShoreTel's Cloud Division.

ShoreTel has begun recruiting solution providers to pilot sales of M5's hosted services through the broader ShoreTel channel, executives confirmed to CRN last week.
