Managed data, voice and security service provider MegaPath on Friday confirmed Jeffrey Pearl as its new senior vice president of sales, in charge of day-to-day management and strategic direction of MegaPath's direct, indirect and field sales operations.

Pearl, a 25-year veteran of the telecom industry, joined MegaPath in January following its acquisition of cloud communications specialist IP5280, where he was a co-founder. He was most recently vice president, field sales at the company.

His resume includes C- and VP-level stints at companies like ICG Communications, Qwest, Frontier Communications and Worldcom, and in 2005, he co-founded LineSider Communications, which was sold to Cisco in 2010.

Dan Foster, MegaPath's president of business markets, said MegaPath was "thrilled to welcome someone of Jeffrey's experience and caliber to our executive team."

"By continuing to invest in our network and our people, we are strongly positioned to offer the most complete set of data, voice, security and hosted IT services in North America," Foster said in a statement.

MegaPath has stood at the crossroads of IT VARs adopting carrier services for some time through its highly regarded managed services programs. It has also been an active acquirer in the telecom space, having completed M&A deals with Covad and Speakeasy in the last two years and bought IP5280 a few months ago.
