Cisco Completes Purchase Of SIP Pioneer Dynamicsoft

The move is designed to strengthen Cisco's VoIP solutions aimed at the broadband communications market, enabling service providers to build "subscriber aware" networks capable of delivering the next generation of Voice over IP (VoIP) applications and services.

SIP can be used by carriers to develop new interactive services over the Internet, such as conferencing, telephony, presence, events notification and instant messaging over an IP network.

Dynamicsoft has been recognized as a leader in the SIP market. Its chief technology officer, Jonathan Rosenberg, co-authored the SIP standard and has been in the forefront of a number of IP telephony and SIP efforts for the Internet Engineering Task Force.

The acquisition of dynamicsoft was announced on September 13, and was completed yesterday. The purchase price was $55 million. Cisco also will assume $3.8 million in Dynamicsoft's debt.
