3Com Rolls Out PoE IP Telephony Switch For SMBs

3Com has released a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch optimized for converged voice and data networks, targeted at the SMB market. <P> 3Com claims that the Web-configurable switch, the 3Com Baseline Switch 2226-PWR Plus, is the industry's first self-learning "smart" switch optimized for the SMB market. The switch offers Web-configurable management features, automated Quality of Service (QoS) for voice prioritization, flexible media Gigabit uplinks and other enterprise features along with PoE on all 24 10/100 ports and is priced for the SMB market. The switch also supports PoE-enabled wireless LAN access. <P> The switch has been designed to take advantage of 3Com's prioritization technology for Internet Telephony (IP) telephony in smaller businesses. It can be combined with 3Com's new NBX V3000 platform, to create converged, small business networks. <P> The 3Com Baseline 2226-PWR Plus is currently shipping and lists for $1,295.
