ViewSonic Americas President Franey Steps Down

Franey occupied the top spot at ViewSonic Americas for less than a year.

Matt Milne, senior vice president of business development and strategy for ViewSonic, will take on the leadership role of ViewSonic Americas in addition to his current role.

The company at this time has no plans to replace Franey, Milne said.

"We are well poised and positioned to take our strategy to the next level," Milne said. "We're going to continue to leverage our strength in the channel."

Milne said that the company's current management team, including Dorothy Farris, senior vice president of sales for ViewSonic Americas, and Jeff Volpe, vice president of marketing for ViewSonic Americas, would continue its drive to expand its digital product and channel reach.

Farris came to ViewSonic Jan. 25. She was formerly vice president of Americas channel sales at thin-client computing vendor Wyse Technology. Farris oversees all sales operations with profit and loss responsibility for the United States, Canada and Latin America.

Franey, who took over as president last June as part of a corporatewide restructuring, had been sharpening the Walnut, Calif.-based company's focus as it expanded its product line with wireless offerings and other products. He formerly was president of ViewSonic Europe. Prior to that, Franey was the driving force behind ViewSonic's aggressive channel buildup in the Americas when he served as head of sales from 1995 to 1999.
