N-able Eases MSP Woes With New Platform

Available this week, N-central 5.0 arrives with a new MSP deployment program N-able calls its Velocity System.

The Velocity System assists solution providers in two ways. First, it segments N-able&'s monitoring capabilities into five different specialties, from which solution providers can cherry-pick based on their own expertise or the needs of their customers, said Mark Scott, president and CEO of N-able, Ottawa.

Second, it helps solution providers deploy managed services more efficiently and price them more accurately, and includes support services to help them make the transformation from a break-and-fix shop to an MSP, Scott said. “It&'s a build-it-yourself MSP platform [that] makes pricing a lot more rational,” he said.

Solution providers can choose from N-able&'s managed desktop, application, network, security or VoIP solutions, and can mix and match the capabilities or add them as the business grows, Scott said. Pricing for the new N-central platform is based on the type and size of the deployment.

N-central 5.0 monitors and manages the licensing and warranty status of hardware devices, Scott said, calling the trend toward more VARs buying hardware for managed customers “the dawn of hardware as a service” (see related story on this page).

N-central 5.0 improves the way network data is organized, said Patrick Sullivan, CIO of All Covered, an N-able partner in Redwood City, Calif. The option to add desktop management in a modular fashion paves the way for All Covered to enter a new market as it begins its managed desktop management efforts, he said.
