Tech Data To Offer McAfee Managed Antivirus Service

Tech Data said it will host McAfee Security's VirusScan ASaP Web-based antivirus service at its security operations center and offer the service to its solution providers.

The agreement with Network Associates on the McAfee service boosts Tech Data's Software Licensing Specialized Business Unit's virtual software offerings and gives solution providers a way to enter the managed security market, Tech Data said in a statement.

Earlier this year, Network Associates announced a deal with Ingram Micro to distribute the McAfee AsaP services.

Mike Menegay, vice president of McAfee channels and alliances, said previously that the company aimed to build on distribution as a key focus in growing its channel.
