Fortinet, Santa Clara, Calif., will roll out two additions to its FortiGate series of ASIC-based antivirus firewall systems. The FortiGate 60 targets small businesses and branch offices with 70-Mbps firewall throughput and 20-Mbps 3DES VPN encryption for $995, said James Liu, director of product management.

The device provides integrated managed switching with four internal ports so a business doesn't have to buy an external switch, he said. It also has two redundant WAN connection ports for failover and two USB ports.

Tailored for large enterprises, the FortiGate 1000 provides up to 1 Gbit of firewall throughput and 250 Mbps of 3DES VPN encryption for $12,995.

Both new products scan for viruses at the gateway and have intrusion-protection capabilities.
