%95 London-based security services firm mi2g said that Sunday, May 4, broke the single-day worldwide record for successful and verified digital attacks. That day, mi2g recorded 2,576 reported attacks, including successful intrusions into corporate and government systems, Web site vandalism and denial-of-service incidents. The company's records date back to 1995.

%95 Fortinet, a supplier of ASIC-based antivirus systems, announced its first distribution agreements in North America, with Denver-based Alternative Technology.

%95 WatchGuard Technologies rolled out updated software for the RapidStream line of ASIC-based VPN and firewall appliances. RapidStream software version 6.0 is the first in WatchGuard's RapidStream brand to be based on Check Point Software Technologies' SecurePlatform technology. It supports Check Point VPN1/FireWall-1 Next Generation Feature Pack 3, Hot Fix 2.

%95 Ositis Software introduced the AVStripper z2000, which boosts network antivirus performance to 30 Mbps from 10 Mbps. The appliance, installed between a firewall and the network, scans traffic for viruses and is designed for enterprises with 2,500 to 20,000 seats.
