Neoteris Updates VPN Software

"From an end-to-end security and ease-of-use perspective, we weren't addressing head-on the direct needs of the extranet and intranet security environment," said Johnnie Konstantas, senior manager of product marketing at Neoteris, Sunnyvale, Calif.

New features in Instant Virtual Extranet version 3.3, unveiled Monday, include forms- and header-based Web single sign-on, a cache cleaner that keeps sensitive information from being cached on the client side, a host checker and integrated password management.

Phil McKiverkin, consulting manager at Akibia, a Westborough, Mass.-based reseller, said the upgrade should appeal to customers who are looking to extend their VPNs to external partners and suppliers. The technology should help companies and manage their VPN options, he said.

"It really puts them ahead of what's out there," McKiverkin said.

Neoteris boasts north of 550 enterprise customers. In 2002, the company was named by In-Stat/MDR as the SSL VPN market-share leader, with nearly 36 percent of the global revenue for the category.

The upgrade will be available to existing users of the Neoteris Access line and is currently being integrated into the company's Access and Meeting product series.
