Xevo Launches Management, Security Platform For Windows 2000/2003 At Tech Ed

XevoWorks 4, which began shipping this week, is a platform that integrates and automates IT administration, end-user access management and security auditing, company executives said. The product is aimed at enterprise use and harnesses the Microsoft Active Directory in Windows Server 2000/2003.

While the Marlborough, Mass.-based company once targeted ASPs exclusively, it has extended its management and security platform for enterprise corporate use. XevoWorks has been used in the past by service providers to automate, manage and provision hosted applications such as Microsoft Exchange.

The suite consist of Xevo's Administration Manager, Provisioning Manager and IT Audit Manager. The Web-based administration manager, a snap-on to the Microsoft Management Console, offers a multitiered delegation model that allows IT managers to control the distribution of management rights. This enables a corporation to enforce centralized security and administration policies while allowing local IT managers to manage Windows NTFS, Active Directory, Exchange and other Windows applications.

The second module, the provisioning manager, enables IT managers to extend or cut off access to enterprise resources depending on user roles. Adding or removing users to user roles allows administrators to automatically enable or disable network access, configure or de-provision access to applications and resources, and grant or revoke permissions to corporate data, Xevo executives added.

The third module, the Xevo IT Audit Manager, is a set of security tools that constantly inspects the Windows network to identify and resolve security holes, violations and policy discrepancies. The audit manager offers realtime access to administrator permissions and user access rights and keeps a detailed transaction history of all administration activities across an enterprise. For instance, the tool automatically reports changes that violate delegation rules or user access policies.
