NFR Security Hires President, CEO

Yee replaces Neil Selvin, who has left NFR to pursue other opportunities, according to a company spokeswoman.

Yee has been with NFR for the past two years and is currently listed as an inventor on two intrusion-management technologies.

Before joining NFR, Yee was vice president of research and development at Saga Software and was largely responsible for developing the enterprise application integration product Sagavista. Before joining Saga, he was director of product development at systems management company Landmark Systems.

In his new role, Yee promoted Chris Flynn, former chief architect at NFR, to vice president of engineering.

Last month, NFR enhanced its channel program to recruit more domestic VARs to sell Sentivist 4.0, its intelligent intrusion-management solution.

Released earlier this month, Sentivist 4.0 has more than 40 enhancements, including a feature that promises to cut false positives for intrusions by 80 percent.

The channel generates most of NFR's sales outside the United States, but domestically the Rockville, Md.-based company has only a handful of partners, said Gary Rippen, vice president of marketing for NFR, in a recent interview with CRN.

To lure more U.S. partners, NFR plans to sweeten its channel program by offering a starter kit that gives partners information on training, contact names for technical and account support, exposure on the vendor's Web site and access to marketing materials. Also planned is a lead-generation program, in which NFR field-sales staff will send partners qualified leads ranging from $20,000 to $100,000, he said.
