Qualys To Launch Freescan With Partners

The system, Freescan, is activated by a button on partners' Web sites that customers can click on for a trial of the QualysGuard network vulnerability assessment service, said Tom Clare, director of channel marketing and enterprise solutions at Qualys.

After a prospect has completed the free scan, reports showing the vulnerability assessment are co-branded with the partner's logo and the Qualys logo. Leads generated by the trial system will be sent to the partner, Clare said.

"It gives partners a great tool to generate leads and prospects," he said.

The trial system will be formally launched in the first or second week of July and is available to all Qualys sales partners, Clare said.

"We regard the offering by Qualys as a very positive partner support tool to provide both marketing support and client education," said Jim Dziak, president of MicroTek Systems, a Milwaukee-based solution provider specializing in networking, security and document information management.

MicroTek has partnered with Qualys since November and views the company's technology as "an integral component" to ensure corporate security, he said.

"We view QualysGuard with the same importance as firewalls and virus protection," he said.

Freescan is one of the many efforts the company is making with its channel partners, which number about 260, Clare said.

Recently, the company added Deloitte and Touche to its channel partner ranks. Deloitte and Touche's Secure e-Business practice will use QualysGuard to audit customers' corporate networks.
