Qualys Offers Tool To Guard Against Defacers

The free QualysGuard test can detect the vulnerabilities that defacers might exploit on Sunday during the so-called Defacers Challenge, a loosely-organized attack that may compromise thousands of servers and deface as many as 30,000 Web sites if the contest proves potent.

The exam audits a wide range of servers and reports on the vulnerabilities that can be exploited by such attacks. Customers of Qualys' security services can click on links displayed by the test to eliminate such vulnerabilities.

Users can run the QualysGuard security test by heading to the company's Web site and filling in a short registration form.
