Startup eEye Beefs Up Endpoint Security Offering

Blink Professional 2.5 employs a single agent architecture that includes intrusion prevention, firewall, antispyware, and antiphishing features, and is managed through eEye's REM unified management console, said Ross Brown, CEO of eEye, Aliso Viejo, Calif.

With Blink 2.5, eEye gives companies the ability to whitelist or blacklist specific applications at the process level, which can be used for security as well as for productivity purposes, according to Brown. The technology examines system processes and allows administrators to permit or deny specific executable files from running, which can also be used to block non-work related applications like P2P, he added.

eEye is also jumping aboard the data leak prevention bandwagon by including a feature that lets companies block the use of removable USB or Firewire storage devices, Brown said.

Another new Blink 2.5 feature allows companies to create security policies that change on the fly, such as when a mobile worker moves into and out of the wired network. For example, one policy could apply to a laptop that's connected to a docking station, while another would take effect when the user leaves the office, Brown said.

Blink Professional 2.5 is available now and is priced at $59 for single user license.
