GFI Integrates Vipre Antivirus Into MSP Platform

GFI Software has completed the integration of its proprietary GFI Vipre Antivirus engine into its GFI Max RemoteManagement platform, according to the company.

The integration allows MSPs to easily add managed antivirus from their GFI Max dashboard and provide more value to their managed service customers, according to Dr. Alistair Forbes, general manager of GFI Max for GFI Software, based in Clearwater, Fla.

“Helping MSPs grow their businesses is the driving force behind the innovations we are making in the GFI Max managed services platform,” Forbes said in a statement. “Each new service we add to GFI Max is an opportunity for our IT support companies to generate incremental, recurring services revenue that many of the competing RMM platforms are unable to deliver as seamlessly or as cost effectively as we are.”

GFI acquired the Vipre product from Sunbelt Software in July 2010.

The integration of an antivirus solution into GFI Max comes after GFI's most recent quarterly survey found that 53 percent of the company's MSP partners are proactively focusing on security this year while 79 percent expect security to be a major focus for them and their managed services customers by 2013.

The GFI Vipre Antivirus solution can be automatically deployed to any server or workstation by GFI Max RemoteManagement and can be fully configured for scheduled scans and specific remediation actions for malware threats, including viruses, adware, spyware, worms and rootkits, according to GFI.

Customers are billed monthly per device as part of their regular recurring billing cycle and MSPs can compile and provide reports detailing all actions used to secure and maintain the network.

The GFI Vipre Antivirus is the latest application integrated into RemoteManagement. Other applications include GFI Max MailProtection, managed e-mail security, GFI Max MailArchive managed e-mail archiving and GFI Max MailEdge managed spam filtering.
