Dell SecureWorks Takes Security Solutions To The Cloud

In addition, Dell SecureWorks plans to offer cloud customers what it calls a Global Threat Intelligence Service that offers analysis of security data points for vulnerabilities, emerging threats and new "adversary activity," according to Dell, Round Rock, Texas.

The offerings are the first in a series of security solutions that Dell plans to launch in coming months. Dell acquired SecureWorks a year agoto expand its footprint in the managed security space.

"Dell already employs Dell SecureWorks' award-winning security services to protect the infrastructure of its cloud data center. Now we are extending three of our key security solutions to cloud customers so they can feel confident that their cloud-based applications and services are protected from the latest cyberthreats," said Mark Wood, product manager for Dell SecureWorks Cloud Security Services, in a statement. "Providing organizations with vulnerability and Web application assessment services, which are fully managed and specifically designed for cloud environments, along with our Global Threat Intelligence Service, makes the discovery and remediation of vulnerabilities a routine and effortless process."

Under the vulnerability management service, Dell SecureWorks resources will conduct regularly scheduled or on-demand vulnerability scans of a customer's cloud services and applications, according to the company.

The Web application scanning service will provide vulnerability scans of a customer's Web applications, which are a common entry point for cyberattacks, according to Dell.

Both services have been designed specifically for cloud environments and can be integrated directly into a customer's virtual data center. In addition, all threat intelligence reports and analysis from Dell's Global Threat Intelligence Service are available to customers through the Dell SecureWorks Portal, according to Dell.

During a Dell World panel last month, Mike Cote, vice president of Dell SecureWorks, discussed security and the cloud. "The challenge for everyone is to raise the game from a security perspective everywhere. Security should be a security enabler [for cloud], not a security prohibitor," he said.
