Arrow To Buy Canadian Distributor

Skydata, which last year had revenue of about $43 million, has offices in Mississauga, Ottawa, Calgary and Laval, Quebec.

Terms and conditions of the acquisition were not detailed. It is expected to close during Melville, N.Y.-based Arrow's current fiscal quarter. Arrow officials were not available to discuss the deal on Wednesday.

Skydata was founded in 1995. In addition to EMC, the company's line card includes products from Sony, QLogic, Quantum, ADIC, Brocade, and Emulex.

In a statement, Edward Coleman, president of Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, said the acquisition of Skydata brings Arrow closer to EMC. "We are pleased to be joining with such a well-respected organization as Skydata. Recognized for the value-add it provides, Skydata represents a significant expansion of our EMC business in North America and extends Arrow's ability to help VARs sell, implement and support industry-leading storage solutions," he said.
