Computer Associates International Monday released its BrightStor Portal, a central management application that allows storage networks, along with tools from multiple vendors, to be managed via a single browser-based console.
With BrightStor Portal, storage administrators can access storage resources, storage management applications and operational information via a browser on a realtime basis.
BrightStor Portal includes storage management elements from a number of other vendors, including Brocade, StorAge and Fort Hill, said Phil Treide, vice president of marketing for the vendor's storage solutions.
"These applications can pass information back and forth with the portal," he said.
BrightStor Portal also integrates with CA's other storage applications, including BrightStor Enterprise Backup, BrightStor ARCserve Backup, BrightStor SAN Manager and BrightStor SRM storage resource manager.
The portal is scheduled to be updated with automated storage provisioning capabilities in the next 12 to 18 months, Treide said.
BrightStor Portal is available to the company's tier-one solution providers, said Treide. He said the company relies on its tier-one and tier-two solution providers for about 40 percent of CA's overall storage business.
