Ingram Micro Opens EMC Storage Solutions Demonstration Center

Ingram Micro has expanded its ability to help VARs demonstrate and test customers' storage solutions with the addition of a new EMC Velocity Solution Center.

The new Solution Center, Ingram Micro's first with EMC, makes it possible for solution providers to bring customers in and show them EMC-based storage solutions, said Scott Zahl, vice president of vendor management at Ingram Micro.

"We can very effectively represent solutions related to EMC storage," Zahl said. "This is a tremendous help to partners as they look to develop storage solutions for their customers."

There are seven solution demonstrations available through the EMC Velocity Solution Center, Zahl said.

These include deploying shared storage using EMC's Celerra NAS systems, business continuity for Microsoft Exchange with EMC Replication Manager, data deduplication with EMC Avamar Virtual Edition, disaster recovery for Microsoft SQL using EMC Celerra Replication and VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager, backup and dedupe for Microsoft Exchange in VMware environments with EMC NetWorker and EMC Disk Library 3D 1500, and virtual desktop infrastructure deployment with VMware View and EMC Celerra.

The EMC Velocity Solution Center takes advantage of Ingram Micro's Solution Center infrastructure, which also includes networking, storage, servers, security and mobile computing systems from a wide range of vendors, Zahl said.

Ingram Micro has two Solution Centers, one in Buffalo, N.Y., and one in Santa Ana, Calif. The EMC Velocity Solution Center is based in Ingram Micro's Buffalo location, and offers solution providers on the West Coast the ability to remote-connect to that location, he said.
