"There are always certain people in an industry who are the best," he said. "Rei really changed my mind with the introduction of CDP and storage virtualization. Everybody else in the industry was putting out point solutions. Not Rei. He was out to change the industry. He was like Henry Ford. People wanted faster horses, and he brought them the automobile."
After Huai's resignation from FalconStor, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Securities and Exchange Commission both launched investigations into the issue of the improper payments made to a customer. As of the company's most recent Form 10-Q filing of June 30, those investigations were continuing.
FalconStor, citing respect for the Huai family’s need for privacy right, declined to make any public comments beyond a brief statement which read, "It is with great sorrow that we received the news of ReiJane Huai’s death today. Rei served as FalconStor’s president and CEO for many years. He was a visionary and a leader, and he was admired and respected by a great many people. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Huai family during this extremely difficult time. And we ask that everyone respect the family’s need for privacy in their bereavement."
