The latest in a string of Cisco acquisitions, this one is expected to close by the end of October. Meetinghouse's client side 802.1X supplicant security software will be integrated into the Wireless Networking Business Unit of Cisco.

Buyer: ScanSource Inc.

Channel Significance: Distributor
Distributor ScanSource has expanded its presence in the videoconferencing and telephony product space with the cash acquisition of T2 Supply, heretofore the largest volume distributor for Polycom. T2 also carried Plantronics products.

Target: iPath Technologies Inc.
Buyer: Solunet Inc.

Channel Significance: Solution provider
Solunet, a network solutions provider to tier II and III telecom and ISP companies, has acquired Reston, Va.-based iPath, also a network solutions provider for ISPs, enterprises and government. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Buyer: Ramius Capital Group LLC

Ramius has offered to add Phoenix to its portfolio of investments for a consideration of $5.05 per share in cash. Phoenix develops, deploys and supports core system software (CSS), tools and applications worldwide and has a broad partner base. Its products include Phoenix TrustedCore, the FirstBIOS product family and Phoenix Recover.
