IBM intends to establish MRO Software's operations as a business unit within IBM's Tivoli Software unit led by general manager Al Zollar. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006.

Once the deal in consummated, Mercury will become part of HP's software business and both companies' sales forces will begin reference-selling each others products. The deal is expected to increase the size of HP's software business to more than $2 billion in annual revenue.
