IBM intends to integrate Rembo's operations with IBM's Tivoli software division and include Rembo's technology in IBM Director software. Rembo's system management tools help IT managers maintain and deploy software images, automate installations and customize computers across multiple locations. The deal is expected to close by the second quarter of this year.

Acquired: Frictionless Commerce Inc.
Buyer: SAP

SAP agreed to buy this software company based in Cambridge, Mass., which develops supplier relationship management (SRM) software that focuses on spend analysis, supplier profiling and performance management, sourcing and contract management. The deal is expected to close in July.

Acquired: GeoTrust Inc.
Buyer: VeriSign Inc.

Channel Significance: Vendor
VeriSign offered to pay $125 million in cash for GeoTrust, a Needham, Mass., company that creates identity verification and network security software for e-business. The deal is subject to regulatory approval but is expected to be complete in the second half of 2006.

Buyer: Expand Networks Inc.

The acquisition of DiskSites will expand the scope of Expand Networks' business from disaster recovery and network management and optimization to include an Internet storage service targeted at private and SOHO users. DiskSites provides a client program that lets the user access Internet-stored files the same way local files are accessed.
