Apple told its MobileMe customers that it finally resolved the issues plaguing its email service in a blog post on its Website Tuesday evening.

"We have completed restoring Mail service, including historical messages, to all of the 1% of affected members," wrote a blogger who signed his name as David G., without giving a title. "Thank you all for your extreme patience during this trying time."

Apple's MobileMe service, which replaced its .mac platform, has been functioning poorly or not at all for users since it was launched about three weeks ago. Data transfers were botched. Users were logged out, and many didn't have access to email for extended periods of time.

The problems were so pervasive, Apple apologized to users on its site, offering MobileMe customers a free month of service for the disruption caused by the transfer from .mac.

Users still having mail problems are being offered a dedicated chat line to MobileMe specialists.

"By completing this restoration of Mail services, we hope we have put the vast majority of MobileMe Mail problems behind us and can now focus on improving other aspects of this new ambitious service," Daivd G. wrote.

On Monday morning Apple discovered a syncing bug which caused contact and calendar data from MobileMe to not sync property with iPhones and iPod touches. While the data disappeared from the devices, Apple said it remained in the MobileMe cloud.

"When we fixed the bug in the late afternoon, the problem resolved itself for most users: their data simply reappeared on their iPhone or iPod Touch," David G. wrote.
