Adobe is launching a new Photoshop application in beta for smartphones in September. The Adobe Photoshop.com Mobile app won't allow users to edit photos directly on their smartphones, but will allow users to upload their photos directly to their Photoshop.com accounts from their phones directly after the photos have been taken.

Adobe's current Web-based image editing program, Photoshop Express, is being updated and rebranded as Photoshop.com.

The Photoshop.com Mobile app will be supported by Motorola MOTO Q phones from both AT&T and Verizon; the Samsung Blackjack from AT&T, and a number of Palm Treo models. In September, users will also have the option to use ShoZu to upload photos from a variety of other smartphones including the iPhone.

Adobe also announced today Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Element 7, available individually or bundled. Purchasers of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements will also have the option to sign up for a one-year Basic membership to Photoshop.com for free, or a Plus membership for a discounted rate.

"Our customers are spending more time online and we want to help them stay connected with their favorite people and memories," said Doug Mack, vice president and general manager of Consumer and Hosted Solutions at Adobe, in a statement. "The introduction of Photoshop.com membership means photos and videos are accessible from virtually anywhere and we're no longer limited to what we can fit into 'the box.'"
