For Apple followers, there is nothing more juicy than following a trail to find out what Steve Jobs is up to.
The best guess is that Apple will unveil new iPod music players, which some believe are due for a price reduction, particularly in light in Apple's lower-priced iPhone.
"It's got to be new iPods. That's 100 percent certain," Needham & Co analyst Charles Wolf told Reuters. "The only question I cannot answer is whether they will also do new MacBooks."
In July, Jobs provided a clue of what may be coming. "We set a new record for Mac sales, we think we have a real winner with our new iPhone 3G, and we're busy finishing several more wonderful new products to launch in the coming months," Jobs said, announcing Apple's third fiscal quarter results on July 21.
Apple iPod Touch has not been upgraded nor has its price been reduced while new features have been added to iPhone and the price is well below iPhone, which has been upgraded new features, American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu told Reuters. iPod Touch starts at $299 in the United States, compared with $199 for the iPhone.
"Pricing needs to be adjusted downward toward market conditions. We are in a tougher economy. That's what makes most sense," Wu said.
Analysts also said they still expect Apple to refresh its MacBook notebook PCs within weeks.
