"Spore" was developed by Will Wright, who also created the popular game series "The Sims."
"Spore" is a "massively single-player" experience, according to Wright, as each user-created "Spore" creature can be uploaded to EA databanks, and then used to populate other users' game worlds, Reuters reported.
"This title has billion-dollar potential," Billy Pidgeon, video game analyst for IDC, told Reuters.
EA released a preview of "Spore" on June 17, the $10 "Spore Creature Creator," resulting in about 3.3 million user-created species being uploaded to Spore.com.
The hotly-anticipated "Spore" will launch on September 7 in North America, and is available now in Australia, Europe and South America.
EA also announced the upcoming "Spore Origins," a game from the series designed specifically for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch.
"We're really excited to bring Spore Origins to the iPhone and iPod touch," said Travis Boatman, Vice President Worldwide Studios at EA Mobile in a statement. "By leveraging the unique capabilities of these devices, players can customize their own creatures and shape their destiny in an exciting evolutionary journey."
Gamers will be able to purchase and download Spore Origins directly from the Apple App Store, or by accessing the EA mobile Website with their Apple iPhones.
