Best Buy Wednesday said it is jumping on the Palm Pre train and on June 6 will begin selling the much hyped mobile device in its 1,067 US stores.

The consumer electronic retailing giant Thursday is selling the Pre for $199.99. Another piece of good news; Best Buy is giving customers instant rebate savings at the point of purchase eliminating the cumbersome mail-in rebate drill.

The Pre is selling at other retail outlets including RadioShack and Wal-Mart for $299, before a $100 mail-in rebate. But no matter where you purchase the Pre you'll still have to sign a two-year contract with Sprint.

However, you better get your Pre quickly. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse told analysts at an investment conference Tuesday that he anticipates a sellout of the device soon after the launch according to Reuters.

"We don't intend to advertise it heavily early on because we think we are going to have shortages for a while," said Hesse. "We won't be able to keep up with demand for the device in the early period of time."

The Pre is also expected to enter the Canadian market sometime in the second half of 2009 and would be available exclusively through Bell Mobility, according to The Globe and Mail.
