Two Hewlett-Packard strategies converged this week with HP's unveiling of a slew of new PC products for the last quarter of 2009 -- multitouch computing and point-of-sale (POS) products and services.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based computing giant has been building its point-of-sale (POS) product and partner program portfolio for a couple of years now, and on Tuesday added two more POS-friendly products to that lineup -- a 42-inch interactive digital signage touch-screen display and the TouchSmart 9100 all-in-one desktop computer.

That comes on the heels of HP's adding a new Store Solutions Elite designation to its PartnerOne channel programs in North America.

HP is actively seeking channel partners with expertise in building POS solutions for environments such as retail, hospitality and banking, said Tom LaRocca, vice president of marketing in HP's Solution Partners Organization - Americas.

HP rounded out its new touch-screen-enabled products with the TouchSmart 300 and TouchSmart 600 all-in-one desktop PCs for consumers, and on the mobile side, with the company's latest swiveling notebook-tablet PC combo, the TouchSmart tx2.
