Daily App: Automatic Call Recorder Could Save A Sale

Solution providers that use a smartphone as their primary means of communication cannot afford to miss a call or forget important details conveyed during one. Yet they often might be unable to take notes during a call. Solving that problem is Automatic Call Recorder for Android, a free app that records every call that goes through the phone based on rules set up in advance.

For example, call recordings can be narrowed to its "record all calls" default to "record contacts only." Through an intuitive UI, the app also permits individual contacts to be given the thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Even better, if recording preferences are changed from, say, selected contacts to all contacts, those individual selections are retained when switching back again. Well done.

Call recordings are saved onto the SD card and are available for playback within moments of call termination. A log displays calls as a list with the contact picture, name and phone number, and the time, date and duration of the call. Preferences permit recordings to be limited to a set number between 10 and 1,000, capacity usage between 5 MB and 500 MB or by time interval between a "last week" and "last six months." Capture quality (always 16-bit) can be varied in four levels between 8KHz mono for "small file size and acceptable quality" to 44KHz stereo for "large file size and crystal clear quality."

Recordings can be stored in MP3 or WAV formats. There's also a shake-to-record feature to kick-start a recording that might have been skipped due to defined rules. The tool can sync automatically or manually with Dropbox or Google Drive for all recordings or only those marked as "favorites." The sync feature worked perfectly with Drive in our tests. Upon selection of the sync option, the app created a folder called callu in our Drive test account and deposited a sample file there. A recording of the call appeared in the folder shortly after each call. This app makes an excellent safety net for salvaging orders that come in while busy salespeople are on the road making other sales.
