Fast, attractive and good handling are terms normally reserved for the latest sports car, but, thanks to Averatec, those terms now fit notebook computers. The company’s latest notebook series, the 4100, offers an excellent balance between affordability and capability.

The system features an ultra-bright WXGA 13.3-inch wide-screen display and is built around a speedy AMD Turion 64 MT-30 processor. With a travel weight of less than 5 pounds, the unit proves to be quite portable, yet sacrifices little in usability. An 80-Gbyte hard drive, a multiformat DVD burner, integrated Wi-Fi and 512 Mbytes of RAM round out the system. Solution providers will find the offerings from Averatec a refreshing change from those of tier-one notebook vendors.
