Acer Ferrari 3000

To help rev up sales, Acer recently launched the Ferari 3000, a new high performance, eye-catching notebook. In 2003 Acer became an official supplier to the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team. In exchange, Ferrari authorized Acer to use the patented red Ferrari paint and prancing horse logo on the screen lid of this latest notebook offering. A matching USB optical mouse is included.

Under the hood, the Ferrari 3000 features a mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2500++processor, a 15-inch SXGA (1400x1050) screen, 512 Mbytes of memory, an ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 graphics accelerator with 128 Mbytes of video memory, a 60-Gbyte hard drive, a DVD /-RW drive and a touch pad with a four-way scroll button. The notebook also includes 802.11g wireless accessibility, Bluetooth, a 10/100 NIC, a V.92 modem, four USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, FIR, S-Video out and a 4-in-1 card reader for removable media. The 6.5-pound notebook measures 13 inches wide by 10.7 inches deep by 1.2 inches high.

The Ferrari notebook is as satisfying to use as it is to look at. It's comfortable, too, with its big screen, full-size keyboard and large palm-rest area. From the driver's seat, it looks similar to any other notebook. But the glossy, bright red screen lid is sure to gain onlookers' attention and admiration. And that, after all, is a big part of the fun in owning a Ferrari.
