External hard drives help meet the security needs of the government, medical and financial verticals since they can be locked away at the end of the day. In the medical, graphical, development, engineering, videography and financial fields they also allow large files and datasets to be passed between users and workstations easily.

For all other businesses, the drives are excellent for system or file backup, and storage-capacity extension. Motherboards that support USB booting can even start-up off the drives for zero down time when a system's internal hard drive fails. The drives are more flexible than tape as they allow random reads and writes without the excessive seek times of tape.

The hot swappable, plug and play 80GB SimpleDrive Portable External USB 2.0 and FireWire Hard Drive provides that connivence and versatility. To scale with the customer's needs and price range, the unit is also available in 20, 30, 40, and 60 GByte capacities. StorageSync Automatic Backup Software is included to provided full or incremental backups. An AC Adapter is provided for systems that cannot power the unit from the USB port.
